The publication Sara Sallam – Care: Reconsidering Photography accompanies the exhibition of the same name at Museum für Kunst & Gewerbe Hamburg, curated by Esther Rülfs and Claire Müller. Confronting the problematic histories embedded in museum collections, Egyptian-born artist Sara Sallam asks how we can engage with violent colonial legacies today and how we can make these wounds visible in order to initiate healing processes. The publication brings together various elements of Sallam’s research-based practice, including writing, poetry, photography, and collages that trace her interventions into archival materials.
