The publication Franki Raffles. Photography, Activism, Campaign Works accompanies the exhibition of the same name at Museum der Arbeit Hamburg. British feminist photographer Franki Raffles developed a body of socially engaged documentary work focusing on women’s working lives across Scotland, the former Soviet Union, China, Zimbabwe, the Caribbean, Israel, and Palestine. The publication comes in an envelope containing a stapled leaflet with texts by Rita Müller, Luisa Hahn, Sarah Munro (Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art) and Jessica Bock (Digital German Women’s Archive), alongside an edition of photographic prints by the artist and an illustration by Japanese illustrator Asuka Okajima, inspired by one of Raffles’ photographs.
