Design of two leporellos for the parallel exhibitions Residual Sky under Contamination by Akosua Viktoria Adu-Sanyah and Rotting from within by Abdulhamid Kircher, curated by Nadine Isabelle Henrich at PHOXXI – Haus der Photographie temporär.
Akosua Viktoria Adu-Sanyah creates large-format, hand-developed colour prints based on historical photographs from the British Empire & Commonwealth Collection in Bristol, taken in her father’s birthplace in Ghana. Through chemical interventions, the German-Ghanaian artist expands the boundaries of photography, revealing its material and processual dimensions.
In his fragmentary analogue photographic and installative practice, German-Turkish artist Abdulhamid Kircher interweaves scenes from Berlin and Turkey, gradually unfolding the dynamics of a father–son relationship.
